You've probably heard, but Overmono's second album dropped this week, and it's one we've been waiting on patiently.

The lengths these two went to are genuinely absurd. They baked a cymbal in the oven, coated in coffee, crisps and vinegar. They ran speakers through a train announcer's horn from the 1930s. This is not normal behaviour. This is what happens when two brothers are left alone with a studio and no one sensible to stop them. And yet every layer of it has been placed with the sort of obsessive precision that most people reserve for arguing about the correct way to load a dishwasher. The result has more texture than anything else you'll hear this year.

To pick one track off this is frankly criminal, like buying a season ticket and going home at half time, but Slowmotion is the Record of the Week. Now go and listen to the whole thing properly.

Once you've absorbed Pure Devotion, there's plenty more. Another brother duo, this time on Bumpa's label Sterling, have dropped a proper little groover, laced with that tech house x Garage Bumpa DNA. These two are ones to watch: Owen Andrews, Luke Andrews - Let's Go.

Deekline & Son of Sam have put a bassline twist on Tyga's Rack City, and it lands in that sweet spot between a bass face and a proper high energy dance record. Staying on bassline: Disrupta - Inside The Rider has been given the edit treatment by the man himself, DJ Q. Undeniable.

DAPHNI @ Corsica Studios, London: Before it shut its doors for the last time, Daphni, aka Caribou, came in and played for five hours. Five. He's released the whole thing, and it's special. Classic dance cuts woven through with deeper, weirder stuff, all taken at his own pace. A fitting send-off for a place that housed every type of electronic music going for years.
